Tony and Dawn are off to Portugal

Having won Keswick Golf Club’s qualifier for the Bader Cup in May husband and wife Tony and Dawn Stamper are celebrating again after winning the regional qualifying Greensome event at Darlington last week with 39 Stableford points.  Their reward in addition to a fine trophy is an all expenses paid trip to the Grand Final in November at Golfe dos Alamos at the Morgado do Reguengo Resort in Portugal.

This year the Bader Cup celebrates it’s 25th anniversary and now involves over 600 clubs throughout the U K.  The event was started by the late Douglas Bader to raise money for the Douglas Bader Foundation and is still supported by his widow Lady Bader.  The Foundation benefits from this popular annual golfing event and it is hoped that in this very special year the £25k raised last year will be exceeded.

The Stamper’s victory is the second such success for Keswick Golf Club this year. In May club professional Gary Watson and Bob Thornton won a Pro-Am qualifier at Blackpool’s St Annes Old Links that means they are off to Turkey for the final of that event in November.
