Mens Section

The majority of the men’s competitions take place on Sundays. They are open to any member in possession of an official handicap. Along with the club competitions we also stage around 6 ‘open’ events that golfers from other clubs are able to compete in. The formats for the opens range from single’s events to 4BBB, teams of 4 players and even a Pro Am event.

Members also get the opportunity to play in the Summer League competition, an event that runs from April to October. Members can play during the week at any time for weekly prizes and for the season overall.

Along with the stroke-play events, the match-play events run throughout the season. Gentlemen are invited to enter the knockout rounds for men’s individual, men’s doubles, mixed doubles, senior and scratch categories. Ties are played from early season and culminate in the finals all being played on one day in September. The picture above shows the trophy winners from Finals Day.

As well as competing against other golfers, the competitions offer an opportunity for members to make new friends and mix with players that they otherwise might not have encountered.

If you are not a competition player there are still plenty of opportunities for playing golf at times to suit yourself, and nobody will be pressurised into obtaining an official handicap. Members arrange to meet to play just a few holes or a full round, or they “bump into” each other on the course. Members can also bring up to a maximum of 3 guests at any one time, to play at a discounted green fee.
